I attend a lot of photography meetups in San Francisco. One guy I would constantly bump into is Manuel A. Yanez. Just like me, he's passionate about photography. He really enjoys street photography, and is a very active member in the San Francisco street scene. His website, with photos of his work, can be found at: http://manuelyanez.photoshelter.com/.
He was getting more interested in portraiture, so I suggested we do a trade. Manuel was keen to the idea and agreed - he took my portrait, and I took his. Manuel suggested he would shoot my session at the Palace of Fine Arts. The setting makes for some very interesting backdrops and is very iconic to San Francisco. For when I photographed him, I knew he wanted a very urban vibe, to convey that he is a San Francisco street photographer. I told him to choose a part of the city he felt a strong connection with. He chose an alleyway in the Mission District of the city: a very unique spot. Check out the results of our session, where Manuel worked his magic in front of the camera.
